Service Description

All participants are required to complete the Online Theory course No Later than 24 hours PRIOR to attending your practical skills and assessment. An Online Workbook PRIOR to course commencement is also required, This supersede HLTAID004 Application and Relevance This course applies to educators and support staff working in education or children’s services who are required to  respond to a first aid emergency. It incorporates the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to  infants, children and adults. Course Content This course provides the skills and knowledge required to provide first aid response, life support, management of casualty(s), the incident and other first aiders until the arrival of medical or other assistance.  Topics include: + Differences between adults and children for provision of first aid + Normal clinical values for children + Airway management, including infant airway + CPR for adults, children and infants + Automated External Defibrillation + Medical conditions including diabetes, epilepsy and convulsions + Infection control and First Aid for minor wounds Risk management for asthma and anaphylaxis + Anaphylaxis emergency response + Asthma emergency response + Control of major external bleeding and shock + Management of near drowning + Hyperthermia and hypothermia + Burns and electric shock + Eye and soft tissue injuries + Venomous bites and stings + Fractures and spinal injuries + Head, chest and abdominal injuries + Assessment of the sick and injured + Recording vital signs +Communicating details of an incident + Reporting requirements in education and children’s services + Debriefing and evaluation of response to critical incidents Prerequisites  There are no prerequisite units. Participants will need the ability to meet the physical demands of providing first aid. It is also recommended that participants have language, literacy and numeracy skills equivalent to level 2 of the National Reporting System. Assessment Methods Progressive assessment throughout the course, including demonstration of practical skills and written and oral questions relating to underpinning knowledge. Students will be required to demonstrate that they can perform 2 minutes of uninterrupted  CPR on an adult mannequin on the floor. A nationally recognised Statement of Attainment will be issued to all successful participants.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations must be in writing must no less than 72 hours before the course. via email to info@northeasttraining.com.au. In the event you are unwell with flu or Covid 19 symptoms, your will not be allowed to attend course. Notify Northeast Training immediately and your course booking will be moved to the next course provided its a min of 20 days since feeling unwell or a negative PCR test.
